Schedule of Events
Yee-Haw River Paddle -
2:00 pm
Register for a scenic 5-mile leisure paddle on the Haw River from
Swepsonville Paddle Access to Saxapahaw Lake Paddle Access
.
Park at Saxapahaw's Yee-Haw! Paddle Parking Field on Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road (GPS 79.321883 35.951420).
You and or your boat will be shuttled to Swepsonville River Park for the trip down the river (If you are renting your boat will meet you there).
Pre-registration on www.thehaw.org
Check in and walk-up registration: 12:00 to 2:00 in Saxapahaw. Walk-ups are welcome but can not be guaranteed a boat.
Cost: $15 includes T-shirt and Shuttle;
$20 after April 30th.
Paddle will last approximately 2.5 hours (5 miles) and requires one portage around the Puryear Dam. Volunteers will be available to assist with portage.
Canoe and Kayak Rentals
Canoe and kayak rentals are not available through the registration process this year. Participants in need of rentals must contact one of our outfitters and make arrangements to rent a boat on the day of the race.
Eastbound and Down River Race - 1:00 pm
Register for the first ever Eastbound and Down River Race from Great Alamance Creek Paddle Access to Saxapahaw Lake Paddle Access.
On-site boat rentals will not be available for the event, participants must provide a canoe or kayak.
Park at Saxapahaw's Yee-Haw! Paddle Parking Field on Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road (GPS 79.321883 35.951420).
You and your boat will be shuttled to Great Alamance Creek Paddle Access for the trip down the river. Shotgun start at 1:00pm. Starting order will be determined by a random drawing on the day of the event.
Check-In and Walk-up Registration: 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Prizes: will be awarded in two catergories (canoes and kayaks)
Kayak Winner: (1) Adventure Technology (AT) bent shaft kayak paddle
Canoe Winner: (2) Harmony Mistral Bent-shaft wood canoe paddles
Cost: $15 includes T-shirt and Shuttle;
$20 after April 30th.

Shuttles: Shuttles will be provided from the parking area in Saxapahaw to Great Alamance Creek Paddle Access and Swepsonville River Park by Alamance County Recreation & Parks, Graham Recreation & Parks, and the Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company.
Haw River Festival:
The Haw River Festival will be held from 2pm to 8pm in Saxapahaw. For more information on the festival visit the Haw River Assembly at www.hawriver.org.
Waiver of Liability
Paddling is an inherently dangerous activity. By registering to participate in the 2011 Yee-Haw River Paddle or the 2011 Eastbound and Down River Race, you are agreeing that you have reviewed and agree to the terms of the Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk.
