Paddle Route: This year's event
features two paddles, a Family & Beginners' Paddle in the morning and
the Yee-Haw! River Paddle in the afternoon. The morning paddle will be
held on Saxapahaw Lake, which features calm, flat water
ideal for families and new beginners. Free boat rental for this portion
of the paddle is sponsored by the Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co., Three
Rivers Outfitters, and River Run Outfitters. Please no personal boats
for the Family and Beginners' Paddle.
The afternoon paddle route begins at Saxapahaw Mill
Race Paddle Access and ends at Union Bridge Paddle Access, the newly
opened and final HRT Paddle Access in Alamance County. This 5-mile
section of river is appropriate for intermediate paddlers, featuring
moving water and intermittent rapids with beautiful views of the river
and its wildlife. It will take approximately 2-3 hours to
paddle this section.
