This year’s event features two paddles, a Family & Beginners’ Paddle and the Yee-Haw! River Paddle. The Yee-Haw! Paddle will take place on the stretch between the paddle access at Red Slide Park and the upper paddle access at Swepsonville River Park, our oldest Haw River Trail park. Swepsonville River Park has recently been renovated and we’re excited to share the improvements. This 5.5-mile stretch is appropriate for beginner-intermediate paddlers, or advanced paddlers looking for a relaxing trip. It features a blend of flat water and class 1 rapids with beautiful views of the river and its wildlife. It will take approximately 3-4 hours to paddle this section. Participants will need to bring their own boat or arrange rental in advance with a participating outfitter (see below for participating outfitters).
The Family & Beginners’ Paddle route begins on Great Alamance Creek starting at the lower access of Swepsonville River Park. Participants will have an hour to paddle up and down Great Alamance Creek, a calm flat water tributary of the Haw River. Boats will be provided at no cost by our participating outfitters. NO personal boats please.
